“Money Speaks Sense in a Language All Nations Understands” - Aphra Behn
Working with people from all over the world and speaking a different language made me realize that regardless of our origin or background, when we talk about our finances, we all speak the same language. Money is just a universal tool and not a unique destination.
In 1997, I moved to the United States from Italy after marrying my husband. As we started our life together, we had no money and a huge amount in student loans. I had no job, no knowledge of the American financial system, and my husband was still in training and overwhelmed with work. I can still recall the times when I would go to the ATM to withdraw cash and instead of money, I would get a receipt with a zero balance.
I felt powerless, angry, and lost. It was almost like someone or something else was running our life. I had to find a way out and forward where I was in control of our finances and would not constantly have a sense of overwhelm. Thanks to my background and first job in accounting, I was able to dive into our finances, put together a realistic plan with specific goals that would pay off our debts and help us build our financial security. I basically became our family CFO. Fast forward 25 five years, we have been through many changes and challenges as a family but are very lucky to have been able to own a home and provide for 2 boys.
Today, my goal is to support you and your family in your healthy money journey. I know that with knowledge and the right guidance, we can all feel more in control of our finances and can make better choices that impact our financial independence and health.
When I am not working, you can find me playing tennis, walking my dog, spending time with my family, and enjoying my friends!
